Artist Statement:
“My photographic practice is an approach to encode the meaning
of my inner symbolic language. Impermanence, life and death and the individual
perception of a moment give food for inspiration and research.
How many layers are contained within a moment and how is it composed?
How close are the supposedly opposites named life and death?
What can I learn from its closeness (and simultaneity) and how can I engage with it?
Water and bone serve as a symbol of life and death. Providing me with new insights and
aspiration for research. The reality of a singular moment`s perception is questioned by the
composition of multi-layered photographs. Partially colored picture frames serve as a new
embedding for seemingly opposites. Maybe one`s perception of linear time frame is
evoked to open up.

This water poem is called:
“In peace with impermanence”
Water moves eternity
water moves me
life and death
so close
water moves me
lets me see Life`s capacity
Life`s Eternity
Group Exhibition with artist collective “Blue Skies” in window gallery “No Depression Room” in Munich in October 2024.
The group theme was the emerging climate crisis and how we can find an empowered mind in dealing with it. Four artists, Jenna Kowalke, Manuela Braunmüller, Helena Detsch and Julia Gold took part in this endeavor. We met in a one week workshop for emerging artists in Munich in 2024. The workshop was held by “The artists and the Others” and supported us in creating our artistic bond together.
In my photographic work “Above Sealevel” I engage in the feeling of immersing myself in nature and in particular with feeling the water element. How does it move? How much weight can it carry? How dark can it be - how light? How can I / we connect more deeply with nature in daily life and merge mind with its natural rhythm? Finding the connection with the water element as an essential part of restoring and reseting my natural mind. Feeling vulnerable and humble in its embrace.
